Lazaros Sarris
Regional Ships Production Manager, Middle East and South East Asia, Det Norske Veritas
Mr. Lazaros Sarris holds a Mechanical Engineer degree from Sunderland Polytechnic and a MBA from Hull University.
He sailed as an engineer on board Oil tankers for two years and worked in Greece (his native country) as a Superintendant Engineer and Technical Manager.
He then joined DNV (Det Norske Veritas) and worked in Europe, Far East and in the Middle East.
In DNV Lazaros has held a number of Management positions. In the Middle East he started in Bahrain in 1995 and was responsible for Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
In 2000 Lazaros moved to Dubai and was in charge for the UAE, Yemen, Pakistan and Oman.
During his time in the Middle East he has held the UAE Chairmanship for the Institute of Marine Engineers Science and Technology (IMarEST) from 2006 to 2008.
Since January 2009 he has been appointed as DNV’s Regional Ships Production Manager for the Middle East and South East Asia.
