Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) commenced its shipping activities in 1967. Today, after elapsing of more than 40 years of its gradual performance achievement, IRISL GROUP has been qualified to address itself as a GLOBAL PARTNER, based on trust earned from its honored and meritorious customers.
With main holding company (IRISL), 13 subsidiaries in Iran and four regional offices in Germany, Dubai, Singapore and China, IRISL Group as the principal national carrier of Iran and, in terms of number of vessels operated, is one of the largest shipping companies based in the Middle East.
IRISL Group owns and operates a diversified fleet of 143 vessels (totaling 4.5 million Dwt) comprising of Bulk Carriers, Container Carriers, General Cargo Vessels, Multi-purpose Carriers, Tankers, Passenger and RO-RO vessels. Huge fleet expansion program of the Group consisting of over 70 ships of mainly bulk-carriers, general cargo and container vessel with still 33 more in pipeline.

Container Services
The container services of IRISL are strongly active in the routes form Asia and Europe to Persian Gulf and Indian sub-continents and provide full scope coverage of “port to port” as well as “multimodal” shipments within, and in between, the two continents.
There are over 36,000 owned and 25,000 chartered sea born slots available in these services and by carrying around 1,000,000 TEU during the year 2006, IRISL ranked 23rd in the world with respect to volume of operation and 24th with respect to available slots.
With respect to the number of containers, currently IRISL is operating 245,000 TEU, out of which 205,000 TEU are owned containers. Furthermore, IRISL has another 45,000 TEUs on order, that will be delivered in 2009.
Bulk Services

IRISL company through ownership of 50 bulk carriers, scaling from Panamax to Handysize with total capacity of about 2.5 million DWT is able to carry all kinds of dry, clean and unclean bulk cargoes such as grain, coal, iron ore and etc.
General Cargo Services
These services cover major projects and shipments between Europe, Far East, Africa, South America and Persian Gulf.
Ships ranging from conventional tween deckers, specialized heavy lift carriers of up to 300 M.T. crane capacity and multipurpose vessels are used to provide services between main ports of above mentioned regions.
The entering of the IRISL Group to new sectors such as Chemical, LPG, LNG, Off-shore, Ship repair, Terminal operation and International bunkering are among the goals set by Group's chairman and managing director Mohammad Hossain Dajmar.
