Technical competence, uncompromising quality and first-class service are the prime assets of the classification society Germanischer Lloyd (GL). From the foundation in 1867, our core competence has been to set standards in technology, safety and quality for the maritime and industrial sector.
Germanischer Lloyd conducts the safety surveys on board of more than 6,500 ships with about 73 Mio GT. 126 flag states have authorized GL to perform statutory duties on their behalf. Our current newbuilding orderbook contains more than 1,700 vessels with over 36 Mio GT.
While headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, Germanischer Lloyd has established a global network of 191 offices in 77 countries. 4,200 employees create value for ship owners, ship managers, shipyards and the supply industry in a consistent manner worldwide.
Safety at sea, quality, economic efficiency and environmental protection are some of the key aspects Germanischer Lloyd focuses on – in the Middle East and worldwide. The classification society is represented in the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent with 15 stations in 9 countries.
