Mr. Hinge joined the trainee program at The East Asiatic Company Ltd., Copenhagen (EAC) in 1966. Following graduation from EAC’s in house business school in 1972 he was stationed at the EAC office in New York City as manager of the Accounts Department. After a number of overseas postings for EAC in Salvador-Bahia, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Stamford Connecticut and Pasadena California, where he was engaged in a wide variety of business activities ranging from tobacco purchasing, over project forwarding and project shipping to liner shipping, his last assignment whilst employed by EAC was in Sevenoaks, England, as Chief Executive for EacBen – the Asia – Europe joint venture between EAC and Ben Line. Following EAC’s disengagement from container shipping he joined United Arab Shipping Co. as Deputy CEO and Chief Trade & Operating Officer in 1994.
